Where literacy meets creativity

ASLC unlocks student potential through a "Whole Child" approach that goes beyond the textbook.

  • Integrated Learning: Weaving speaking, listening, reading, science, math and writing into arts-driven projects.

  • Life-Ready Skills: Building emotional intelligence by teaching communication and conflict resolution.

About Camp

Our Whole Child Approach

Making a Difference in Milwaukee

While our beloved Milwaukee community faces significant challenges—with only 13% of elementary students reading at grade level—ASLC tells a different story.

At our camp, 50% of our 1st-8th graders leave at or above proficiency in reading, showcasing the effectiveness of our integrated approach.

For ten years, ASLC has proudly served over 4,200 learners from across Milwaukee County. Our vibrant community includes students from diverse backgrounds: 33% Black, 16% Latino, 10% Asian, and 41% white, with 15% of students at or below poverty level.

We particularly excel at supporting neurodivergent learners—45% of our students receive special education services and have IEPs.
